Elite Industrial Controls offers various valve and damper designs to fit our customers wide range of applications and project needs. Our 3400 multi-louver series are designable to fit any square or rectangle ductwork as well as a customizable bolt patterns to match what the customer has currently installed. The multi-louvers are designed and fabricated to provide control of temperatures, pressures and/or combustion gasses. If there is a tight installation where the blade is unable to protrude beyond the face to face, for clearance issues, our multi-louvers are the ideal fit. Flow control is another use our customers benefit from while using our 3400 series.
The multi-louver design is unique compared to our round standard series because it allows a tighter fit of flanges and each blade will not protrude past either face allowing to be installed or removed while in the open position. We can design a multi-louver to fit any sized dimension required for your application. In the example shown we have a 48″W x 72″H model 3470-8 w/ 12″ face to face, 3400 series multi-louver w/ manual gear actuation and tadpole seats.
For this application Ø1/2″ tadpole seat was used to allow only 1% estimated leakage at maximum capacity. Every tadpole seat used at Elite is graded to withstand high temperature and assembly includes 304 stainless steel retainer, clips, nuts and washers. 304 SS ensures the internal hardware can withstand the required temperature without fail. This is even performed on carbon steel valves/dampers to guarantee function long before any carbon on the valve/damper would need to be repaired/replaced.
Each multi-louver blade has associated stuffing boxes that connect on the power side mounting brackets. This includes a ball bearing with a linkage arm connecting each shaft together to move in unison. Each blade assembly on the linkage arm is connected by a collar that is drilled & pinned directly to each shaft. This is key in our multi-louver to work flawlessly.
For this application our customer requested a manual gear operation so they can specifically control the flow of air that is moving through their line. Working with one of our actuator partners we were able to equip this multi-louver with a Triac Q1500 manual actuator with a 16″ handwheel. This allows the end user to set the blades to a specific degree (0°, 45° & 90° shown below) allowing the required air flow to move through the line.
